My friend Hampi wisely has left Thailand now and is settling down in Koh Kong province in Cambodia, in the capital town of Dong Tong to be precise. 7 years ago my old friend Otto settled down there. He runs a restaurant and guest-house with the help of his friendly Khmer family and he was the only foreign resident for quiet a while.
Now there is a growing community of mainly german speaking residents and its a nice bunch... Jason and his Oasis with the swimming pool are a new attraction worth visiting if you ever get to Dong Tong, Koh Kong :-)
A few quotes from Max and Bec whom we met in Siem Reap just before new year...
"We also met a tall sweedish 40-something year old called Eddie and his tiny girlfriend Anna who was half Thai, half Cambodian and could probably have fit in my breast pocket. We spent several dinners with these two whose childlike sense of playfullness and fun when in each other's company betrayed the strong affection between them."
"However, after many testicle-squeezingly-frustrating ordeals with Laotian technology, i feel that I am thoroughly defeated. so... here we go again!"
So - he mistook me for a Swede (haha) and the Laotians had some fun with him :-) You may have noticed that I switched my blog to english for the time being - I hope this way some of my asian friends can follow it as well...
